# ✦ ── Claims & Player Property

Players are expected to respect other people’s land, builds, items, farms, animals, and belongings at all times.

A build does not have to be claimed to be protected by the rules. If it clearly belongs to someone else, leave it alone.

***

### Griefing

Do not damage, alter, or interfere with another player’s build without permission.

This includes:

* breaking or placing blocks
* covering builds in lava, water, fire, or other materials
* damaging decorative areas
* destroying farms, redstone, roads, paths, or landscaping
* leading hostile mobs into someone’s base
* making unwanted changes as a “joke.”

Even small or easily reversible changes may still be treated as griefing.

***

### Stealing

Do not take items that do not belong to you.

This includes items from:

* chests, barrels, shulker boxes, or other containers
* farms and storage systems (Unless it is publicly stated to be a community farm.)
* hoppers or collection systems
* another player’s animals or villagers

A container being unlocked or unclaimed does not make its contents free to take. We have community chests located at spawn for players to share items.

***

### Distance Between Builds

Do not build or create a claim within **200 blocks** of another player’s claim or established build without their permission.

Before settling, use the server map \[[Coppercore SMP Map (Click Here)](http://coppercoresmp.mcserver.us:9116/?world=minecraft_spawn)] and an inspection stick to check the surrounding area.

This rule exists to give everyone enough space to expand and prevents disputes over land, resources, farms, and nearby builds.

***

### Claim Boundaries and Land Reservation

Claims should reasonably cover land you are actively using or preparing to build on.

Do not place small, scattered, or “dot” claims around a much larger area to reserve the unclaimed land between them.

This includes placing claims around the corners or edges of an area to prevent other players from settling nearby or to imply that the entire space belongs to you.

The 200-block distance rule cannot be used to reserve more land than you have actually claimed. Planning a future build does not give you ownership of unclaimed land.

If you need more room, expand your existing claim as your build grows. If you do not currently have enough Claim Blocks, claim a smaller area until you earn more.

Where possible, claims belonging to the same build or project should be connected rather than scattered across the surrounding area.

Staff may require claims to be resized, merged, moved, or removed if they:

* reserve an unreasonable amount of unused land
* unnecessarily block resources or nearby expansion
* exist mainly to prevent other players from settling in the area

***

### Unclaimed Builds

Unclaimed bases are still protected by the rules.

However, unclaimed areas are much easier for other players to access or damage, so you should claim your land as soon as possible.

Staff may investigate griefing or theft, but prevention is always easier than recovery.

Do not assume a build is abandoned just because the owner has not logged in recently.

If you believe an area has been abandoned and want to use the land, open a ticket and ask staff before touching anything.

Staff will decide whether the area can be cleared or reclaimed.

***

### Farms, Animals, and Villagers

Do not use, kill, move, breed, trade with, or interfere with another player’s animals, villagers, farms, or resource systems without permission.

This includes:

* harvesting crops
* taking mob drops
* using someone else’s spawners or farms
* moving villagers
* opening gates or releasing animals
* draining or blocking collection systems

Public farms should be clearly marked as public.

***

### Traps and Dangerous Builds

Do not create traps intended to harm, kill, imprison, or inconvenience other players without their consent.

This includes:

* teleport traps
* portal traps
* hidden lava or fall traps
* suffocation traps
* redstone traps
* enclosing someone’s base or access route

PvP is only allowed if both parties have consented to it.

***

### Claim Trust and Shared Access

Be careful when trusting other players to your claim.

Players you trust may be able to build, access containers, or interact with parts of your base depending on the permission level you give them.

***

### Reporting Grief or Theft

If you believe someone has damaged or stolen from your property:

1. Do not retaliate.
2. Avoid changing the area more than necessary.
3. Take screenshots if possible.
4. Open a support ticket.
5. Include the location, time, and anything you noticed.

Server logs will help staff investigate what happened.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** “It was unclaimed” is not a valid excuse for griefing or stealing. If it is not yours and you do not have permission, do not touch it.
{% endhint %}
