# ✦ ─ Chat & Advertising

Coppercore’s chat and community spaces should remain readable, welcoming, and suitable for everyone.

These rules apply across the Minecraft server, Discord, signs, books, item names, nicknames, player warps, shop names, and other public-facing content connected to Coppercore.

***

### Spam and Chat Flooding

Do not spam or flood chat.

This includes:

* repeatedly sending the same or similar message
* splitting one message across many lines
* excessive use of capital letters
* excessive symbols, emojis, or formatting
* repeatedly sending commands that create public messages
* deliberately filling chat so other conversations are difficult to follow
* repeatedly advertising the same shop, warp, or service.

Occasional excitement or capital letters are fine. The issue is repeated or disruptive use.

***

### Advertising

Advertising other Minecraft servers, Discord communities, websites, services, social media pages, unrelated projects, or using server features for unintended promotional purposes is not permitted without staff approval.

This includes:

* posting server IP addresses
* sharing Discord invite links
* telling players to join another community
* disguising advertisements to avoid filters
* sending advertisements through private messages
* placing advertisements on signs, books, shops, or builds
* recruiting players for another server
* using the Auction House as an advertising board instead of for genuine item sales

**Auction House listings must be genuine sale listings.**\
Do not list renamed items, junk items, or intentionally overpriced items purely to advertise a shop, player warp, service, event, or other message. The Auction House is intended for buying and selling items, not as an advertising space. **Listings intended primarily to advertise, collect offers, or direct players elsewhere may be removed even if an item is technically listed for sale.**

If you want to advertise your shop or player warp, you can use the **Community Board** channel in Discord, or the **Notice Board at spawn** once you reach **Brass rank (50 votes)**.

***

### Self-Promotion

Do not promote your own streams, videos, social media accounts, commissions, businesses, or services without approval.

Players may share relevant Coppercore-related content in the appropriate channels where permitted.

Content creators wishing to promote their work more regularly should contact staff through a ticket.

***

### Private Message Advertising

The advertising rules also apply to private messages.

Do not privately message players with:

* server invitations
* Discord links
* sales offers
* referral links
* recruitment messages
* unsolicited promotions

A message being private does not make unwanted advertising acceptable.

***

### Appropriate Content

Public content must remain appropriate for the community.

Do not share or create content involving:

* pornography or explicit sexual material
* graphic violence or gore
* hate speech or discriminatory material
* threats or encouragement of harm
* illegal or dangerous content
* intentionally disturbing imagery
* content designed to shock or upset others

This applies even when content is shared as a joke.

***

### Usernames, Skins and Nicknames

Usernames, skins, nicknames, and profile content must be suitable for the server.

Do not use:

* slurs or discriminatory references
* explicit sexual content
* impersonation
* names designed to evade chat filters
* names intended to harass or target another player
* inappropriate or offensive skins

Staff may ask you to change unsuitable content before continuing to play.

***

### Signs, Books and Item Names

The same chat rules apply to written content placed inside the game.

This includes:

* signs
* books
* renamed items
* shop names
* player warp names and descriptions
* holograms
* map art
* build labels

Content hidden inside a private claim may still be actioned if it breaks serious rules or is shown to other players.

***

### Arguments and Public Drama

Do not use public chat to continue personal disputes, call out other players, or argue about reports and punishments.

When a disagreement becomes disruptive, staff may ask everyone involved to stop or move the issue into a ticket.

Do not encourage others to take sides, target someone, or join a public argument.

***

### Controversial Topics

Discussions involving politics, religion, or other highly controversial subjects are not allowed in public Coppercore spaces.

Staff may also end other topics when they begin causing arguments, hostility, or discomfort.

***

### False Information and Impersonation

Do not deliberately spread false information about the server, its staff, or other players in order to cause panic, damage reputations, or mislead the community.

Do not:

* post fake announcements
* pretend the server is shutting down
* claim a player has been banned when they have not
* create fake staff messages
* falsely claim that a rule or decision has changed

***

### External Links

Links may be removed when they are suspicious, unsafe, unrelated, or shared without context.

Do not post:

* phishing links
* malicious downloads
* IP grabbers
* token stealers
* scam websites
* disguised or shortened links intended to hide their destination

Staff may ask you to explain or remove a link even when it is not obviously malicious.

***

### Language in Public Chat

English should be used in public chat so that players and staff can understand and moderate conversations.

Brief phrases in other languages are fine, but extended conversations should be moved to private messages where appropriate.

***

### Staff Instructions

Staff may ask players to stop a topic, reduce spam, change inappropriate content, or move a conversation elsewhere.

Continuing after a clear warning may result in moderation action.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** Something does not have to bypass the chat filter to be inappropriate. Deliberately avoiding filters may result in a harsher response.
