# ✦ ── Tournaments

**Fishing Tournaments** are automatic server-wide competitions where players can compete against one another in short fishing challenges.

Tournaments run regularly throughout the day and can challenge you to catch the longest fish, catch the most fish, hunt Crabs, earn Entropy and more.

There is no registration or entry fee.

When a Tournament begins, simply start fishing to take part!

***

### Tournament Schedule

Coppercore's Fishing Tournaments are scheduled every **4 hours**:

* 00:00
* 04:00
* 08:00
* 12:00
* 16:00
* 20:00

Each Tournament lasts:

**15 minutes**

A Tournament requires at least:

**4 players online**

before it can begin.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** If there aren't enough players online when a Tournament is due to start, it will not begin.
{% endhint %}

You can check how long remains until the next automatic Tournament using:

`/ft time`

If a Tournament is already running, this will instead tell you how much time remains.

***

### Joining a Tournament

You don't need to click anything or enter a special command.

When the Tournament starts, simply **fish normally**.

Once you begin participating, PyroFishing automatically tracks your score for the current competition.

A boss bar at the top of your screen will show:

* The current Tournament type
* How much time remains

Tournament standings are also broadcast periodically while the event is running.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Progress updates are broadcast every **5 minutes**, so you'll have several chances to see how you're doing before the Tournament ends.
{% endhint %}

***

### Tournament Types

Coppercore currently rotates between **6 different Fishing Tournament types**.

The type is selected automatically when each Tournament begins.

***

### Longest Length

**Goal: Catch the longest individual fish.**

Every eligible fish caught during the Tournament is given a length.

Your score is based on the **single longest fish** you manage to catch before the timer ends.

Catching lots of fish gives you more chances, but only your best catch matters.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** One enormous fish can completely change the leaderboard at the last second.
{% endhint %}

***

### Total Length

**Goal: Catch the greatest combined length of fish.**

Unlike Longest Length, every eligible fish you catch contributes towards your score.

The lengths of your catches are added together throughout the Tournament.

This means consistency is more important than finding one exceptionally large fish.

**More fish = more total length.**

***

### Most Fish Caught

**Goal: Catch as many fish as possible.**

Simple.

Every eligible catch adds to your total, and the player with the most catches when the timer ends wins.

This is a pure fishing-speed competition, so keep your line in the water!

***

### Most Crabs Killed

**Goal: Kill as many fishing Crabs as possible.**

Instead of competing over fish, this Tournament tracks the number of **Crabs you kill** during the event.

Crabs can occasionally be hooked while fishing and must be defeated after appearing.

The player who kills the most before time runs out wins.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** The **Crab Bait** Augment can be particularly useful during this Tournament because it increases your chance of encountering Crabs.
{% endhint %}

***

### Most Base Entropy Earned

**Goal: Earn the most base Entropy from catches.**

This Tournament tracks the **base Entropy value** generated by the custom fish you catch.

Because higher-rarity fish naturally provide more base Entropy, landing rarer catches can give you a major advantage.

The important word here is **base** - the Tournament scores the underlying Entropy value of the catches rather than simply rewarding whoever has stacked the most Entropy multipliers.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** A few high-rarity catches can potentially be worth more Tournament progress than a large pile of Bronze fish.
{% endhint %}

***

### Random Catch

**Goal: Catch as many of one selected fish as possible.**

When a Random Catch Tournament begins, PyroFishing chooses a particular custom fish.

Only catches of that specific species count towards your Tournament score.

Coppercore's Random Catch pool deliberately uses easier fish:

#### Bronze

* Tuna
* Piranha
* Koi
* Bass
* Random Fish
* Basic Fish

#### Silver

* Eel
* Manta Ray
* White Fish

The selected fish will be announced when the Tournament begins.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Pay attention to which species has been selected! Catching other fish won't increase your Random Catch score.
{% endhint %}

Because custom fish can be biome-specific, you may need to move to a suitable fishing location once you know the target.

## Tournament Rewards

You don't need to win to get something from a Fishing Tournament.

Anyone who participates receives:

**500 Entropy**

The top three players also receive server money.

| **Position**  | **Reward**  |
| ------------- | ----------- |
| 🥇 1st Place  | $10,000     |
| 🥈 2nd Place  | $6,500      |
| 🥉 3rd Place  | $2,500      |
| Participation | 500 Entropy |

Winners also receive the 500 Entropy participation reward.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Even if you're nowhere near the top three, it's still worth taking part. A few minutes of fishing earns you the participation Entropy regardless of where you place.
{% endhint %}

***

### Tournament Progress

During an active Tournament, PyroFishing will periodically broadcast the current standings.

These updates show:

* Time remaining
* 1st Place
* 2nd Place
* 3rd Place
* Your current position and score

Progress broadcasts occur every:

**5 minutes**

You'll also have the Tournament timer displayed through the boss bar at the top of your screen.

This means you won't need to constantly run commands to check the leaderboard.

***

### When the Tournament Ends

Once the 15-minute timer reaches zero, the final standings are announced.

The server will display:

* 1st Place
* 2nd Place
* 3rd Place
* Their final scores

Rewards are then given automatically.

***

### Improving Your Chances

Different Tournament types favour different fishing setups.

#### Longest Length

Focus on getting as many chances at a strong catch as possible.

Helpful features may include:

* Hot Spot
* Call of the Storm
* Party Fishing

#### Total Length

Fishing speed and additional catches are especially valuable.

Consider:

* Hot Spot
* Call of the Storm
* Party Fishing

#### Most Fish Caught

Anything that helps you produce more catches is valuable.

Consider:

* Hot Spot
* Call of the Storm
* Fishing alongside others for Party Fishing bonuses

#### Most Crabs Killed

Consider:

* Crab Bait
* Little Critters Totem Passive
* Random Drops Totem Passive

Crab Bait helps you encounter more Crabs, while Totem Passives can make those Crab encounters more rewarding at the same time.

#### Most Base Entropy Earned

Focus on catching **higher-rarity fish**.

Consider:

* Master Fisherman
* Combo Catcher
* Mythical Waters
* Biome Disruption

Remember that Entropy multipliers themselves don't directly increase your Tournament score - what matters is the base Entropy value of the fish you're catching.

#### Random Catch

First, work out where the selected fish can be caught.

Then get fishing!

Useful features may include:

* Fish Codex
* Biome Disruption
* Hot Spot
* Call of the Storm

Biome Disruption can be particularly handy if the selected fish isn't naturally available in your current biome.

***

### Party Fishing During Tournaments

Tournaments are a great opportunity to make use of **Party Fishing**.

Fishing near other players can provide additional Fishing XP and Entropy bonuses while everyone competes.

Party Fishing does **not** mean you're working as a team for the Tournament itself - your Tournament scores remain individual.

So yes, you can peacefully fish beside somebody while simultaneously trying to absolutely annihilate them on the leaderboard.

***

### Fishing Totems During Tournaments

Fishing Totems can also be used during Tournaments.

Depending on the competition, useful Passives may include:

* Experienced Fisherman
* Fish Schools
* Mythical Waters
* Little Critters
* Random Drops
* Entropy Horder

The **Tribal Shout** Fishing Skill can also share some Totem benefits with nearby players.

Community fishing locations with active Totems can therefore become particularly useful whenever a Tournament begins.

***

### Do I Need Special Equipment?

No.

Any player can participate with a normal fishing rod.

You don't need:

* A particular Fishing Level
* Augments
* A Fishing Totem
* An entry fee
* Special Tournament equipment

More advanced fishing upgrades may improve your chances in certain Tournament types, but they are never required to join.
