# ✦ ── Fishing Totem

**Fishing Totems** are one of PyroFishing's major late-game progression systems.

A Fishing Totem is a physical multiblock structure that can be built in the world and activated to provide powerful fishing bonuses within the surrounding area.

Unlike Augments, which improve an individual fishing rod, a Totem creates a fishing zone that can provide several different effects depending on which **Passives** you've activated.

Fishing Totems become available from **Fishing Level 20**.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Totems require a considerable amount of fish, special materials and Entropy to fully develop. They're designed as a long-term goal rather than something you need when first starting PyroFishing.
{% endhint %}

***

### Building a Fishing Totem

Fishing Totems use a specific **multiblock structure**.

The exact structure can be viewed through the PyroFishing menu.

The blocks must be placed correctly for the Totem to recognise the structure.

Once you've built it:

1. Find the **first Observer** shown in the structure guide.
2. Right-click it while holding a **Fishing Rod**.
3. PyroFishing will check whether the structure has been built correctly.
4. If valid, you'll be shown the materials required to permanently unlock the Totem.
5. Supply those materials to register it as your Fishing Totem.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** The structure must remain intact for the Totem to function.
{% endhint %}

***

### Unlocking Your Totem

The first time you create your Fishing Totem, you'll need:

* 6x Platinum Fish
* 16x Crab Claw
* 16x Crab Scale
* 16x Dolphin Tail
* 16x Squid Tentacle

The Platinum Fish can be **any Platinum species**.

Once the activation has been completed, the Totem belongs to you permanently.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** Each player can only own **one Fishing Totem** at a time.
{% endhint %}

***

### Moving Your Totem

Your Fishing Totem isn't permanently trapped wherever you originally built it.

Breaking the Totem's main Observer will return a special **Fishing Totem item** containing its saved data.

This includes things such as:

* Totem upgrades
* Radius
* Active time
* Cooldown
* Passive slots
* Ownership

You can then rebuild the multiblock structure somewhere else and place the Totem down again.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** You do **not** need to pay the original activation cost again when relocating an already-unlocked Totem.
{% endhint %}

***

### Activating Your Totem

Fishing Totems don't provide their bonuses constantly.

Once you've opened your Totem menu, you can manually **activate** it.

While active, a visible area around the Totem represents its effective radius.

For Totem effects to apply, **you must be standing inside the Totem's radius**.

Your fishing bobber can land outside of the radius - it's your player that needs to remain inside it.

After the Totem's active time expires, it enters a **cooldown** before it can be used again.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** Totem Passives only work while the Totem itself is active. They provide no effect while the Totem is on cooldown.
{% endhint %}

***

### Totem Upgrades

Your Totem has three main permanent upgrades.

These are purchased using **Entropy**.

#### Totem Radius

The **Radius** upgrade increases the size of the area affected by your Fishing Totem.

A larger radius gives you more room to move around while still receiving your Totem effects and makes shared fishing areas easier to use.

#### Active Time

The **Active Time** upgrade increases how long your Totem remains active after being activated.

Higher levels therefore give you longer fishing sessions before the Totem switches back into cooldown.

#### Cooldown Reduction

The **Cooldown Reduction** upgrade decreases the amount of time you have to wait between Totem activations.

This becomes increasingly useful if you use your Fishing Totem regularly.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Your current upgrade levels, next upgrade effects and Entropy costs are all shown directly inside the Totem menu.
{% endhint %}

***

### Totem Leader

The Fishing Skill **Totem Leader** can also reduce your Totem's cooldown.

Whenever you catch a fish, Totem Leader removes some time from the remaining cooldown.

The more Skill Points you've invested into Totem Leader, the greater the cooldown reduction becomes.

This makes Totem Leader particularly useful once you've reached the stage where you regularly use your Fishing Totem.

Bonus catches created through effects such as **Hot Spot** do not provide additional Totem Leader reductions.

***

## Totem Passives

The real power of a Fishing Totem comes from its **Passives**.

Passives are special abilities that can be switched on inside the Totem menu.

Each Passive:

* Requires a certain Fishing Level
* Uses a certain number of **Passive Slots**
* Only works while the Totem is active
* Can be enabled or disabled depending on your current fishing setup

You can freely change which Passives you're using, provided you have enough Passive Slots available.

Coppercore currently has **7 available Fishing Totem Passives**.

### Experienced Fisherman

**Required Fishing Level:** 20\
**Passive Slots:** 1

Experienced Fisherman increases the amount of **Fishing XP** you earn while fishing inside your active Totem.

Bonus:

**1.5x Fishing XP**

This makes it an excellent early Totem Passive if you're still working on increasing your Fishing Level.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Experienced Fisherman combines particularly well with the **Sage** Augment for players focused on Fishing XP.
{% endhint %}

### Little Critters

**Required Fishing Level:** 40\
**Passive Slots:** 2

Little Critters improves the drop chance of **Crab-related loot** when killing Crabs inside your Totem's radius.

Bonus:

**+20% Crab loot chance**

This is especially useful if you're gathering Crab Claws and Crab Scales for crafting Augments.

### Fish Schools

**Required Fishing Level:** 40\
**Passive Slots:** 3

Fish Schools increases how frequently your **Hot Spot** Augment activates while fishing inside the Totem.

Bonus:

**+30% activation chance**

This makes Hot Spot significantly more effective during active Totem sessions.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Fish Schools is most useful when your fishing rod already has Hot Spot applied.
{% endhint %}

### Random Drops

**Required Fishing Level:** 55\
**Passive Slots:** 4

Random Drops gives Crabs killed inside your Totem's radius a chance to drop additional special fishing materials.

Bonus chance:

**15%**

These extra drops can include fishing materials such as:

* Dolphin Tails
* Squid Tentacles
* Other special fishing loot

This makes Crab hunting inside an active Totem considerably more rewarding.

### Mythical Waters

**Required Fishing Level:** 60\
**Passive Slots:** 5

Mythical Waters gives custom fish caught inside your Totem's radius a chance to be automatically upgraded into a **higher rarity tier**.

Chance:

**20%**

For example, a catch that would normally have been Gold could potentially become Diamond instead.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Mythical Waters is particularly powerful for players hunting rare fish or building towards high-value catches.
{% endhint %}

### Treasure Hunter

**Required Fishing Level:** 60\
**Passive Slots:** 3

Treasure Hunter gives you a chance to find additional rare or random loot whenever you catch a fish inside the active Totem.

Chance:

**3%**

This gives your normal fishing sessions an additional chance to produce useful bonus items.

### Entropy Horder

**Required Fishing Level:** 60\
**Passive Slots:** 6

Entropy Horder increases the amount of Entropy you receive from catching custom fish inside your Totem.

Bonus:

**1.25x Entropy**

This makes it one of the strongest Passives for players trying to build large amounts of Entropy for Augments, Deliveries and further Totem upgrades.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Combine Entropy Horder with **Perception**, **Luck of the Catch** and Entropy Boosters for an Entropy-focused fishing setup.
{% endhint %}

***

## Passive Slots

You can't simply activate every Totem Passive at once.

Each Passive requires a certain number of **Passive Slots**, and the combined cost of your active Passives cannot exceed the number of slots your Totem currently has available.

For example:

If you have **6 Passive Slots**, you could run:

* Experienced Fisherman - 1 slot
* Little Critters - 2 slots
* Fish Schools - 3 slots

for a total of:

**6 / 6 slots**

Or you could use those slots on a single:

**Entropy Horder - 6 slots**

This allows you to build different Totem setups depending on what you're currently trying to achieve.

### Increasing Passive Slots

Additional Passive Slots are unlocked by sacrificing high-rarity fish.

You can pay using either:

* **Mythical Fish**
* **Platinum Fish**

The required amount increases each time you purchase another slot.

For example, the **third Passive Slot** costs either:

**3 Mythical Fish**

or:

**15 Platinum Fish**

You cannot combine Platinum and Mythical fish together to pay for a single upgrade - you must provide the full cost using one rarity.

Fishing Totems can eventually hold up to **18 Passive Slots**.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** You don't need to rush all 18 slots. Decide which Passives you actually want to use first and increase your capacity as you need it.
{% endhint %}

***

## Example Totem Builds

Because Passives can be switched around, you can customise your Totem for different goals.

### Fishing XP Build

Consider:

**Experienced Fisherman**\
1 Passive Slot

Provides 1.5x Fishing XP while your Totem is active.

Pair it with:

* Sage Augment
* Party Fishing

for a progression-focused fishing session.

### Crab Hunting Build

Consider:

**Little Critters**\
2 Passive Slots

**Random Drops**\
4 Passive Slots

Total:

**6 Passive Slots**

This setup improves normal Crab material drops while also giving Crabs a chance to provide additional fishing loot.

Pair it with the **Crab Bait** Augment to encounter more Crabs.

### Rare Fish Build

Consider:

**Fish Schools**\
3 Passive Slots

**Mythical Waters**\
5 Passive Slots

Total:

**8 Passive Slots**

Fish Schools helps produce additional catches through Hot Spot, while Mythical Waters can upgrade catches into higher rarity tiers.

Pair this with:

* Hot Spot
* Master Fisherman
* Combo Catcher

for a rarity-focused fishing build.

### Entropy Build

Consider:

**Entropy Horder**\
6 Passive Slots

This directly increases the Entropy generated by catches inside the Totem.

Pair it with:

* Perception
* Luck of the Catch
* Entropy Boosters
* Party Fishing

to maximise Entropy generation.

## Tribal Shout

The Fishing Skill **Tribal Shout** allows nearby players to benefit from part of your active Fishing Totem's effects.

The percentage shared increases as your Fishing Level rises.

Your own Totem bonuses are **not reduced** by sharing them.

Totem effects also cannot be stacked by standing inside several overlapping Totems.

If you're inside the radius of your own Totem, your own Totem takes priority.

This makes Tribal Shout particularly useful for:

* Community fishing areas
* Fishing festivals
* Group fishing sessions
* Fishing Tournaments

***

### Where Should I Build My Totem?

Because Totems are physical structures, placement is worth thinking about.

Good locations include:

* Your main fishing spot
* A large shoreline
* A purpose-built fishing dock
* A community fishing area
* Somewhere with enough open space for its upgraded radius

Remember that you can relocate the Totem later, so your first location doesn't need to be permanent.

### What Next?

Once you own a developed Fishing Totem, you've reached one of PyroFishing's biggest end-game progression systems.

There's only one major part of the fishing system left to explore:

**Tournaments** - compete against other players in regularly scheduled fishing challenges for money, Entropy and bragging rights.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Final reminder:** Fishing Totems are highly customisable. You don't need every Passive running at once - build your Totem around what you're currently trying to achieve and swap your Passives whenever your priorities change.
{% endhint %}
