# ✦ ── Custom Fish & Rarities

One of the biggest parts of PyroFishing is its collection of **custom fish**.

Coppercore features **126 different custom fish** for players to discover, collect and sell. These fish go far beyond vanilla cod and salmon, giving fishing its own progression and collection system.

Every custom fish belongs to one of **six rarity tiers**, and many fish can only be found in certain biomes, encouraging you to explore different parts of the world rather than fishing in the same place forever.

***

### What Are Custom Fish?

Custom fish are special catches added by PyroFishing.

When fishing normally, you have a chance to catch one of these custom fish instead of standard vanilla loot. Each custom fish has its own:

* Name
* Rarity
* Sell value
* Codex entry
* Possible biome requirements

Some custom fish are fairly common, while others are much harder to find.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** If you're trying to complete your Fish Codex, you'll need to fish in a variety of different locations.
{% endhint %}

### Rarity Tiers

Coppercore's 126 custom fish are divided across six rarity tiers:

* Bronze
* Silver
* Gold
* Diamond
* Platinum
* Mythical

In general, lower rarities are more common and higher rarities are rarer and more valuable.

#### Bronze

Bronze fish are the most common rarity and are usually the easiest to catch.

These are the fish you're most likely to encounter when first starting out.

#### Silver

Silver fish are a step above Bronze and are a little less common.

They're still relatively obtainable, but feel a bit more special when caught.

#### Gold

Gold fish are rarer than Bronze and Silver, and are usually worth noticeably more.

#### Diamond

Diamond fish are uncommon catches that can feel like a real upgrade when they appear.

#### Platinum

Platinum fish are rare and valuable catches.

#### Mythical

Mythical fish are the rarest tier available on Coppercore.

If you catch one, congratulations - you've pulled in one of PyroFishing's most valuable and elusive finds.

**Important:** Higher rarity usually means higher value, but rarity also matters for collection progress, bragging rights and general fishing progression.

### Where Can Fish Be Found?

On Coppercore, many custom fish are tied to specific **biomes**.

That means the location where you're fishing can directly affect which custom fish are available to you.

Some fish can be caught almost anywhere, while others are restricted to certain environments.

For example, a fish found in a warm ocean may not be available in a river, frozen biome or swamp.

This means exploring different areas is a major part of discovering more fish.

### What Affects Fish Availability?

Currently, the most important factor for finding different fish on Coppercore is:

* **Biome**

At the moment, custom fish are **not** restricted by things such as:

* Time of day
* Weather
* Y-level
* Specific worlds
* Special protected regions

So if you're trying to find new species, your best move is usually to change **where** you're fishing, not **when** you're fishing.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** If you've been fishing in the same place for a while without finding anything new, try moving to a different biome.
{% endhint %}

### The Fish Codex

Your **Fish Codex** keeps track of the custom fish you've discovered.

Open it with:

`/fish codex`

The Codex is useful for:

* Tracking which fish you've already caught
* Seeing which fish you're still missing
* Giving yourself goals while exploring the fishing system
* Working towards full fish collection completion

With **126 custom fish** available, completing the full Codex is a long-term challenge rather than something you'll finish in a single afternoon.

***

### Special Fish

At any given time, one fish is selected as the current **Special Fish**.

When a fish becomes the Special Fish, it gains:

**1.5x sell value**

This special fish changes every **6 hours**, so it's worth keeping an eye on what the current boosted fish is.

If you happen to catch one while it's active, you may want to take advantage of the increased value before it rotates out.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** Special Fish are especially worth paying attention to if you're planning to sell your catches through `/fish shop`.
{% endhint %}

### Catching Fish in Other Ways

Fishing is the main way to obtain custom fish, but it isn't the only one.

On Coppercore, naturally spawned vanilla fish mobs can also drop custom fish when killed.

That means custom fish may occasionally appear outside of ordinary rod fishing as well.

### What Should I Do With the Fish I Catch?

Once you've caught custom fish, you can use them in several ways.

You may choose to:

* Sell them for money
* Scale them for a chance at better value
* Gut them for fishing resources
* Keep them as collection pieces
* Use them towards Deliveries
* Progress your Codex

If you're still new, it's perfectly fine to start by simply collecting and selling fish while you learn the rest of the system.

### What Next?

Once you understand custom fish and rarities, the next guides that will help most are:

**Fishing Levels & Skills** - for progression and permanent upgrades.

**Entropy** - for one of PyroFishing's main resources.

**Fish Shop, Scales & Gutting** - for what to actually do with the fish you catch.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Final reminder:** If you want to discover more fish, the key is exploration. Try different biomes, keep an eye on your Codex, and don't be surprised if the rarest catches take a while to appear.
