# ✦ ── Utility Skills

Coppercore has three mcMMO Utility Skills:

* **Acrobatics**
* **Alchemy**
* **Fishing**

Unlike the Gathering and Combat skills, these focus more on movement, brewing and additional survival benefits.

***

### Acrobatics

**Acrobatics** improves through movement and taking certain types of damage.

It focuses on reducing fall damage and occasionally avoiding part of the damage from incoming attacks.

Acrobatics has no active super ability. Its bonuses activate automatically as you play.

#### Acrobatics Abilities

| Ability           | Unlock           | Effect                                                              |
| ----------------- | ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Roll** | Always Available | Gives a chance to completely negate smaller amounts of fall damage. |
| **Graceful Roll** | Always Available | A stronger Roll performed while sneaking. |
| **Dodge** | Level 1 | Gives a chance to reduce incoming damage by half. |

#### Earning Acrobatics XP

Acrobatics XP can be earned by:

* Taking fall damage
* Successfully performing a Roll or Graceful Roll
* Successfully Dodging incoming damage

The more relevant damage involved, the more XP can be awarded.

Fall and Roll XP are capped based on the amount of fall damage being processed, while Dodge XP is calculated separately.

Coppercore also has mcMMO's Acrobatics anti-exploit protections enabled, preventing repeated artificial fall setups from being used for unlimited AFK XP.

#### Roll

Roll gives you a chance to completely negate fall damage.

Its success chance increases with your Acrobatics level:

| Acrobatics Level | Roll Chance |
| ---------------- | ----------- |
| 250              | 25%         |
| 500              | 50%         |
| 750              | 75%         |
| 1,000            | 100%        |

A normal Roll can negate up to **7 HP of fall damage**, equal to 3.5 hearts.

If the incoming fall damage is greater than the amount Roll can protect against, the ability will not completely save you from the fall.

#### Graceful Roll

Graceful Roll is a stronger version of Roll.

To attempt one, **hold Sneak while falling**.

Graceful Roll:

* Doubles your normal Roll activation chance
* Can negate up to **14 HP of fall damage**
* Works automatically when you land while sneaking

Because its activation chance is doubled, Graceful Roll reaches a 100% success chance much earlier than a normal Roll.

For example:

| Acrobatics Level | Normal Roll | Graceful Roll |
| ---------------- | ----------- | ------------- |
| 250              | 25%         | 50%           |
| 500              | 50%         | 100%          |
| 750              | 75%         | 100%          |
| 1,000            | 100%        | 100%          |

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** If you're about to make a questionable jump, holding Sneak on the way down gives Acrobatics a much better chance of saving your ankles.
{% endhint %}

#### Dodge

Dodge gives you a chance to automatically reduce incoming damage by **50%**.

It works against both PvE and PvP damage on Coppercore.

The chance scales with your Acrobatics level and reaches a maximum of:

**20% at level 1,000**

Dodge does not activate if the reduced damage would still be enough to kill you.

***

### Alchemy

**Alchemy** is trained through potion brewing.

As your Alchemy level increases, brewing becomes faster and additional ingredients become available for special mcMMO potion recipes.

Alchemy has two main sub-skills:

* **Catalysis**
* **Concoctions**

#### Earning Alchemy XP

Alchemy XP is awarded when brewing operations successfully complete.

More developed brewing stages can award more XP:

| Brewing Stage | XP    |
| ------------- | ----- |
| Stage 1       | 666   |
| Stage 2       | 1,111 |
| Stage 3       | 1,750 |
| Stage 4       | 2,250 |
| Stage 5       | 0     |

Brewing multiple potions in the same batch can award XP for each completed potion.

#### Catalysis

Catalysis makes Brewing Stands work faster as your Alchemy level increases.

It begins automatically from level 0 and gradually improves until reaching its maximum speed at level 1,000.

| Alchemy Level | Brewing Speed |
| ------------- | ------------- |
| 0             | 1x            |
| 250           | 1.75x         |
| 500           | 2.5x          |
| 750           | 3.25x         |
| 1,000+        | 4x            |

At maximum Catalysis, a normal brewing operation can complete around four times faster than it would without the bonus.

#### Concoctions

Concoctions unlocks additional brewing ingredients as your Alchemy level increases.

These ingredients can create potion effects that are not normally available through standard vanilla brewing.

Each rank includes everything unlocked by the ranks below it.

| Rank | Alchemy Level | New Ingredients                      | Potion Effects                |
| ---- | ------------- | ------------------------------------ | ----------------------------- |
| 1    | 0             | Standard brewing ingredients         | Vanilla potions               |
| 2    | 100           | Carrot, Phantom Membrane, Slime Ball | Haste, Slow Falling, Dullness |
| 3    | 200           | Quartz, Rabbit's Foot                | Absorption, Leaping           |
| 4    | 350           | Apple, Rotten Flesh                  | Health Boost, Hunger          |
| 5    | 500           | Brown Mushroom, Ink Sac              | Nausea, Blindness             |
| 6    | 750           | Fern                                 | Saturation                    |
| 7    | 900           | Poisonous Potato                     | Decay                         |
| 8    | 1,000         | Golden Apple                         | Resistance                    |

#### Special Potion Recipes

The main special recipes use an **Awkward Potion** as their base.

| Ingredient       | Result                 |
| ---------------- | ---------------------- |
| Carrot           | Potion of Haste        |
| Phantom Membrane | Potion of Slow Falling |
| Slime Ball | Potion of Dullness |
| Quartz           | Potion of Absorption   |
| Rabbit's Foot    | Potion of Leaping      |
| Apple | Potion of Health Boost |
| Rotten Flesh | Potion of Hunger |
| Brown Mushroom | Potion of Nausea |
| Ink Sac | Potion of Blindness |
| Fern             | Potion of Saturation   |
| Poisonous Potato | Potion of Decay |
| Golden Apple | Potion of Resistance |

**Dullness** applies Mining Fatigue, while **Decay** applies the Wither effect.

Many of these special potions can also be modified using familiar brewing ingredients such as:

* Redstone for extended durations
* Glowstone Dust for stronger versions
* Gunpowder for Splash Potions
* Dragon's Breath for Lingering Potions where supported

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tip:** If an ingredient doesn't work yet, check your Alchemy level. Higher Concoctions ranks are required before their special recipes become available.
{% endhint %}

### Fishing

**Fishing** remains an mcMMO skill on Coppercore, but the server's main custom fishing system is **PyroFishing**.

mcMMO Fishing therefore acts as an additional progression layer rather than replacing PyroFishing.

It provides bonuses such as:

* Faster fishing
* Ice Fishing
* Improved food from fish
* Shake
* Fishing progression towards Salvage

#### mcMMO Fishing & PyroFishing

Coppercore has **mcMMO's own fishing treasure drops disabled**.

This means mcMMO does not add its separate Treasure Hunter loot pool on top of Coppercore's existing fishing systems.

In particular:

* **Treasure Hunter rewards are disabled**
* **Magic Hunter rewards are effectively disabled**
* mcMMO does not replace Coppercore's fishing loot with its own treasure system

PyroFishing remains the main system for custom fish, rarities, fishing progression, custom treasure mechanics and the other features covered in the **PyroFishing** guides.

Vanilla fishing treasure is also not overridden by mcMMO.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** Your mcMMO Fishing level and your PyroFishing level are two separate progression systems.
{% endhint %}

#### Fishing Abilities

The relevant mcMMO Fishing abilities on Coppercore include:

| Ability              | Unlock    | Effect                                                      |
| -------------------- | --------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Master Angler** | Level 1 | Reduces the time required for fish to bite. |
| **Ice Fishing** | Level 50 | Automatically creates an opening when fishing through ice. |
| **Shake** | Level 150 | Allows your fishing rod to pull additional drops from mobs. |
| **Fisherman's Diet** | Level 200 | Increases the hunger restored by fish.                      |

#### Master Angler

Master Angler reduces the amount of time you need to wait for a bite.

It has eight ranks:

| Rank | Fishing Level |
| ---- | ------------- |
| 1    | 1             |
| 2    | 200           |
| 3    | 300           |
| 4    | 400           |
| 5    | 600           |
| 6    | 700           |
| 7    | 800           |
| 8    | 900           |

Each rank further reduces the minimum and maximum possible wait time.

Fishing from a **boat** also provides an additional reduction.

Master Angler works alongside the Lure enchantment.

#### Ice Fishing

Ice Fishing unlocks at **Fishing level 50**.

When your fishing hook lands on suitable ice above a body of water, mcMMO can automatically create a **3x3 opening** in the ice and recast your fishing line into the water.

This makes fishing in frozen areas considerably less annoying.

#### Fisherman's Diet

Fisherman's Diet increases the amount of hunger restored when eating fish.

It has five ranks:

| Rank | Fishing Level | Bonus Hunger |
| ---- | ------------- | ------------ |
| 1    | 200           | +1           |
| 2    | 400           | +2           |
| 3    | 600           | +3           |
| 4    | 800           | +4           |
| 5    | 1,000         | +5           |

The bonus affects hunger restored rather than saturation.

#### Shake

Shake unlocks at **Fishing level 150**.

Instead of waiting for a normal catch, you can cast your fishing rod at certain mobs to attempt to **Shake an item out of them**.

A successful Shake:

* Deals some damage to the mob
* Causes the mob to drop an item from its configured Shake loot pool
* Awards a small amount of Fishing XP

Shake has eight ranks:

| Rank | Fishing Level | Success Chance |
| ---- | ------------- | -------------- |
| 1    | 150           | 15%            |
| 2    | 200           | 20%            |
| 3    | 250           | 25%            |
| 4    | 300           | 35%            |
| 5    | 400           | 45%            |
| 6    | 500           | 55%            |
| 7    | 600           | 65%            |
| 8    | 700           | 75%            |

Possible Shake drops depend on the mob.

For example, supported mobs can provide things such as:

* Mob-specific materials
* Food
* Bones and arrows
* Ender Pearls
* Ghast Tears
* Saddles
* Mob heads
* Shulker Shells
* Other drops normally associated with that mob

Because Shake damages the target when successful, you cannot repeatedly shake the same mob forever without eventually killing it.

#### Fishing & Salvage

Fishing is one of the two skills used to calculate your **Salvage** progression.

Your Salvage level is based on both:

* Fishing
* Repair

Salvage is covered in more detail in **Repair, Salvage & Smelting**.
