# ✦ ── Repair, Salvage & Smelting

Repair, Salvage and Smelting make up mcMMO's main crafting and processing skills.

* **Repair** is trained directly by repairing equipment.
* **Salvage** is a child skill based on Repair and Fishing.
* **Smelting** is a child skill based on Mining and Repair.

Unlike normal skills, Salvage and Smelting do not have their own independent XP progression.

***

### Child Skills

A child skill is calculated from the levels of its parent skills.

#### Salvage

Your Salvage level is:

`(Repair + Fishing) ÷ 2`

The result is rounded down.

For example:

* Repair 600
* Fishing 400
* Salvage 500

#### Smelting

Your Smelting level is:

`(Mining + Repair) ÷ 2`

The result is rounded down.

For example:

* Mining 800
* Repair 400
* Smelting 600

To increase a child skill, increase its parent skills.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Note:** Salvage and Smelting do not independently contribute additional levels towards Power Level.
{% endhint %}

### Repair

**Repair** allows you to restore equipment durability using an mcMMO Anvil.

The mcMMO Anvil is simply an:

**Iron Block**

This is completely separate from the normal Minecraft Anvil.

#### Using the mcMMO Anvil

1. Place an **Iron Block**.
2. Hold the damaged item you want to repair.
3. Make sure you have the appropriate repair material in your inventory.
4. Right-click the Iron Block.
5. Confirm the repair if prompted.

A successful repair consumes repair material and restores some of the item's durability.

Repairing items also awards **Repair XP**.

The XP received depends on factors such as:

* How much durability was restored
* The item's material
* The type of equipment being repaired

Higher-level equipment can generally provide larger amounts of Repair XP.

#### Repair Materials

Most equipment uses the material associated with that item.

Examples include:

| Equipment         | Repair Material |
| ----------------- | --------------- |
| Wooden Equipment  | Planks          |
| Stone Equipment   | Cobblestone     |
| Copper Equipment  | Copper Ingots   |
| Iron Equipment    | Iron Ingots     |
| Gold Equipment    | Gold Ingots     |
| Diamond Equipment | Diamonds        |
| Leather Armour    | Leather         |
| Bow / Fishing Rod | String          |

Some equipment uses special repair materials:

| Equipment | Repair Material     |
| --------- | ------------------- |
| Shield    | Oak Planks          |
| Crossbow  | String              |
| Elytra    | Phantom Membrane    |
| Trident   | Prismarine Crystals |
| Mace      | Breeze Rod          |

All of Coppercore's currently configured vanilla repairable items can be repaired from **Repair level 0**.

#### Repair Mastery

Repair Mastery begins from **Repair level 1**.

It increases the amount of durability restored each time you use the mcMMO Anvil.

The bonus increases continuously with your Repair level.

| Repair Level | Approx. Bonus Repair |
| ------------ | -------------------- |
| 250          | +50%                 |
| 500          | +100%                |
| 750          | +150%                |
| 1,000        | +200%                |

At level 1,000, Repair Mastery has reached its maximum bonus.

A +200% bonus means a repair restores approximately **three times the base durability** before other effects are considered.

#### Super Repair

Super Repair unlocks at **Repair level 400**.

It gives each repair a chance to become a **Super Repair**, doubling the amount of durability restored.

| Repair Level | Super Repair Chance |
| ------------ | ------------------- |
| 400          | 40%                 |
| 500          | 50%                 |
| 750          | 75%                 |
| 1,000        | 100%                |

At level 1,000, every eligible repair becomes a Super Repair.

Super Repair is applied alongside Repair Mastery, making high-level Repair extremely efficient.

#### Repairing Enchanted Items

Be careful when repairing enchanted equipment with an mcMMO Anvil.

Coppercore has **Arcane Forging** enabled.

Without sufficient Arcane Forging progression, repairing enchanted equipment can:

* Remove enchantments
* Downgrade enchantment levels

Arcane Forging gradually improves your chance of safely preserving enchantments.

| Rank | Repair Level | Keep Chance | Downgrade Chance |
| ---- | ------------ | ----------- | ---------------- |
| 1    | 100          | 10%         | 75%              |
| 2    | 250          | 20%         | 50%              |
| 3    | 350          | 30%         | 40%              |
| 4    | 500          | 40%         | 30%              |
| 5    | 650          | 50%         | 25%              |
| 6    | 750          | 50%         | 20%              |
| 7    | 850          | 60%         | 15%              |
| 8    | 1,000        | 60%         | 10%              |

Each enchantment is checked separately.

Even at maximum Arcane Forging rank, preserving an enchantment is **not guaranteed**.

Coppercore also caps enchantments preserved through Arcane Forging at **level 5**.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Important:** Do not use the mcMMO Anvil on valuable enchanted equipment unless you are comfortable with the possibility of losing or downgrading enchantments. A normal Minecraft Anvil still works normally and does not use Arcane Forging rolls.
{% endhint %}

***

### Salvage

**Salvage** allows you to destroy equipment in exchange for some of the materials originally used to make it.

Salvage uses a:

**Gold Block**

as the mcMMO Salvage Anvil.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Important:** Salvaging destroys the item. This is not reversible.
{% endhint %}

#### Salvage Level

Salvage is a child skill of:

* Repair
* Fishing

Your Salvage level is the average of those two skills.

You cannot directly earn Salvage XP.

#### Using the Salvage Anvil

1. Place a **Gold Block**.
2. Hold the item you want to salvage.
3. Right-click the Gold Block.
4. Confirm the salvage when prompted.

The item is destroyed and eligible materials are returned to you.

The number of materials recovered depends on:

* Your Salvage level
* Your Scrap Collector rank
* The item's remaining durability
* The maximum amount of material that item can return

A heavily damaged item normally returns fewer materials than an item in good condition.

#### Equipment Requirements

Most configured items can be salvaged immediately.

Two important material tiers have additional requirements:

| Equipment           | Required Salvage Level |
| ------------------- | ---------------------- |
| Diamond Equipment   | 50                     |
| Netherite Equipment | 100                    |

These are literal Salvage levels and are **not multiplied by Retro Mode**.

#### Scrap Collector

Scrap Collector determines the maximum number of materials you can recover from a salvaged item.

| Rank | Salvage Level | Maximum Materials |
| ---- | ------------- | ----------------- |
| 1    | 1             | 1                 |
| 2    | 100           | 4                 |
| 3    | 150           | 6                 |
| 4    | 200           | 8                 |
| 5    | 250           | 10                |
| 6    | 300           | 12                |
| 7    | 350           | 14                |
| 8    | 400           | 16                |

The actual amount recovered is still limited by the item itself and its remaining durability.

For example, salvaging a heavily damaged pickaxe will not magically produce sixteen diamonds just because your Scrap Collector rank allows sixteen materials.

#### Arcane Salvage

Arcane Salvage allows enchantments from salvaged equipment to potentially be recovered onto an **Enchanted Book**.

It unlocks at Salvage level 100 and has eight ranks.

Each enchantment is rolled separately and can have one of three outcomes:

* **Full Extraction** - the enchantment is recovered at its current level.
* **Partial Extraction** - the enchantment is recovered but loses one level.
* **Lost** - the enchantment is destroyed.

| Rank | Salvage Level | Full Extraction | Partial Extraction |
| ---- | ------------- | --------------- | ------------------ |
| 1    | 100           | 2.5%            | 2%                 |
| 2    | 250           | 5%              | 2.5%               |
| 3    | 350           | 7.5%            | 5%                 |
| 4    | 500           | 10%             | 7.5%               |
| 5    | 650           | 12.5%           | 10%                |
| 6    | 750           | 17.5%           | 12.5%              |
| 7    | 850           | 25%             | 15%                |
| 8    | 1,000         | 32.5%           | 17.5%              |

If every enchantment fails its extraction roll, no enchanted book is produced.

Like Arcane Forging, Arcane Salvage currently caps preserved enchantment levels at **level 5**.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Important:** Salvaging enchanted items always carries a risk. Even at maximum Arcane Salvage rank, enchantments can still be permanently lost.
{% endhint %}

### Smelting

**Smelting** improves the efficiency and rewards of your furnaces.

It is a child skill of:

* Mining
* Repair

Your Smelting level is the average of those two skills.

Smelting has no active ability. All of its effects are passive.

#### Smelting XP

You cannot level Smelting directly.

Instead, completing eligible furnace smelts awards mcMMO XP which is shared between **Mining and Repair**.

As those parent skills increase, your Smelting level increases automatically.

Different materials award different amounts of mcMMO XP.

Some examples include:

| Smelted Source          | mcMMO XP |
| ----------------------- | -------- |
| Ancient Debris          | 200      |
| Deepslate Diamond Ore   | 140      |
| Deepslate Emerald Ore   | 110      |
| Deepslate Copper Ore    | 100      |
| Emerald Ore             | 100      |
| Copper Ore / Raw Copper | 75       |
| Diamond Ore             | 75       |
| Deepslate Gold Ore      | 50       |
| Deepslate Iron Ore      | 40       |
| Gold Ore / Raw Gold     | 35       |
| Iron Ore / Raw Iron     | 25       |
| Nether Quartz Ore       | 25       |
| Coal Ore                | 10       |
| Cobbled Deepslate       | 5        |

#### Fuel Efficiency

Fuel Efficiency increases how long furnace fuel burns.

| Rank | Smelting Level | Fuel Duration |
| ---- | -------------- | ------------- |
| 1    | 100            | 2x            |
| 2    | 500            | 3x            |
| 3    | 750            | 4x            |

At Rank 3, the same piece of fuel can burn for **four times its normal duration**.

This works automatically whenever eligible fuel begins burning in a furnace.

#### Second Smelt

Second Smelt gives furnace operations a chance to produce an **additional item**.

The chance increases continuously with Smelting level.

| Smelting Level | Approx. Chance |
| -------------- | -------------- |
| 250            | 12.5%          |
| 500            | 25%            |
| 750            | 37.5%          |
| 1,000          | 50%            |

Second Smelt reaches its maximum **50% chance at level 1,000**.

It only activates when there is enough room in the furnace output slot for the additional item.

Second Smelt is enabled for Coppercore's main ore and mineral outputs, including materials such as:

* Iron
* Gold
* Copper
* Diamond
* Emerald
* Redstone
* Lapis Lazuli
* Coal
* Quartz
* Netherite Scrap

#### Understanding the Art

Understanding the Art increases the amount of **normal Minecraft XP** received from furnace smelting.

This is separate from mcMMO XP.

| Rank | Smelting Level | Vanilla XP Multiplier |
| ---- | -------------- | --------------------- |
| 1    | 100            | 1x                    |
| 2    | 250            | 2x                    |
| 3    | 350            | 3x                    |
| 4    | 500            | 3x                    |
| 5    | 650            | 4x                    |
| 6    | 750            | 4x                    |
| 7    | 850            | 5x                    |
| 8    | 1,000          | 5x                    |

At the highest rank, eligible furnace operations provide up to **5x their normal Minecraft XP**.

### No Active Abilities

Repair, Salvage and Smelting do not use the usual right-click mcMMO super abilities.

Their progression is based entirely around passive bonuses and interacting with their respective systems.

### Checking Your Skills
