# ✦ ── Crates

Crates are one of Coppercore's additional reward systems, offering a chance to obtain useful items, special rewards and rarer goodies through keys earned across the server.

There are currently **four crate types**, each with its own purpose and reward tier.

Crate rewards can change and rotate as Coppercore develops, so the items available today may not always be the items available later.

### Crate Types

| Crate               | Type     | Description                                               |
| ------------------- | -------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Vote Crate**      | Voting   | Regular rewards earned through daily voting               |
| **Waxed Crate**     | Entry    | Common and lower-tier rewards                             |
| **Weathered Crate** | Mid      | More valuable rewards with moderate rarity                |
| **Oxidized Crate**  | High     | The rarest and highest-tier permanent crate rewards       |
| **Seasonal Crate**  | Rotating | Limited seasonal rewards which change throughout the year |

Each crate requires its matching key to open.

### Vote Crate

The **Vote Crate** rewards players for voting for Coppercore.

Every successful vote gives:

**1 Vote Key**

Coppercore has **5 voting sites**, meaning you can currently earn up to:

**5 Vote Keys per day**

Vote Keys are used exclusively for the Vote Crate.

They cannot be used on Waxed, Weathered or Oxidized Crates.

### Waxed Crate

The **Waxed Crate** is the entry-level crate.

Its reward pool focuses primarily on common and useful rewards rather than exceptionally rare items.

Waxed Keys are intended to be reasonably accessible and provide an additional source of useful resources and server rewards without being overwhelmingly valuable.

### Weathered Crate

The **Weathered Crate** is Coppercore's middle crate tier.

Its reward pool contains more valuable and moderately rare items compared with the Waxed Crate.

Weathered Keys are less common than Waxed Keys, while still remaining obtainable through normal server participation.

### Oxidized Crate

The **Oxidized Crate** is Coppercore's highest crate tier.

Its reward pool contains some of the rarest and most valuable rewards available through the crate system.

Oxidized Keys are intended to feel special, but the crate is **not locked behind a paywall**.

Players can obtain Oxidized Keys through free in-game and community reward methods as well as optionally purchasing additional keys through the Coppercore Store.

### Seasonal Crate

Alongside Coppercore's permanent crates, a **Seasonal Crate** rotates throughout the year.

Unlike Waxed, Weathered and Oxidized, the Seasonal Crate is not part of the permanent crate tier progression.

Its theme and reward pool change alongside seasonal content, giving different events their own limited selection of rewards.

Seasonal rewards may only be available while their corresponding crate is active, so check the current crate in-game whenever a seasonal event is running.

### Getting Crate Keys

Different crate types have different methods of obtaining their keys.

#### Vote Keys

Vote Keys are earned directly through normal voting.

Each successful vote gives **1 Vote Key**, with up to **5 available each day** from Coppercore's current voting sites.

#### Waxed, Weathered, Oxidized and Seasonal Keys

Waxed, Weathered, Oxidized and Seasonal Keys are separate from Vote Keys and **cannot be earned through normal daily voting**.

They can be obtained through several methods, including:

* Purchasing them with earned **Copper Coins** through `/coinshop`
* Purchasing them through the **Coppercore Store**
* Server events
* Giveaways
* **Keyalls**, where crate keys are distributed to players server-wide
* Other progression and community reward systems as Coppercore continues to develop

Purchasing crate keys through the store is completely optional.

All three crate tiers can also be accessed without spending real money.

### Copper Coins & Crate Keys

Waxed, Weathered and Oxidized Keys can be purchased using **Copper Coins** through:

`/coinshop`

Copper Coins are earned through gameplay and server participation and **cannot be purchased with real money**.

This provides a consistent in-game method of working towards crate keys without requiring a store purchase.

### The Coppercore Store

Waxed, Weathered, Oxidized and Seasonal Keys are also available as optional purchases through the **Coppercore Store**.

Buying keys is never required to access these crates.

Free keys will continue to be distributed and obtainable through gameplay, events, giveaways, Keyalls, Copper Coins and other server reward systems.

The store simply provides an additional optional way to obtain more keys.

### Rotating Reward Pools

Crate reward pools are **not permanent**.

As Coppercore grows, individual rewards may be:

* Added
* Removed
* Rebalanced
* Replaced
* Rotated into or out of different crates

Seasonal Crates take this even further, with entire themed reward pools rotating alongside seasonal events.

This allows crate rewards to remain relevant as new content, custom items, events and progression systems are introduced.

Because of this, the wiki does **not** maintain a permanent item-by-item reward list for each crate.

### Reward Tiers

The crate tiers generally represent increasing reward rarity:

**Waxed → Weathered → Oxidized**

The Seasonal Crate sits separately from this progression and changes depending on the current seasonal event.

A higher-tier crate does not mean every possible reward must be dramatically stronger than normal gameplay.

Crates are intended to provide exciting additional rewards without replacing normal survival progression.

Rare items should feel special, while ordinary Minecraft gameplay, exploration, enchanting, crafting and progression remain important.

### Crates & Custom Rewards

Crates may occasionally contain rewards unique to Coppercore, including things such as:

* Custom items
* Custom Enchantment Books
* Copper Coins
* Claim Blocks
* mcMMO-related rewards
* Useful resources
* Special vouchers
* Event or limited rewards

Exactly what is available depends on the current reward pool.

**Important:** Custom Enchantment Books obtained from crates cannot be applied through a normal Minecraft Anvil. See the **Custom Enchants** guide for information on having them applied.

### Do I Need to Buy Keys?

**No.**

The Coppercore Store provides an optional way to obtain additional Waxed, Weathered, Oxidized and Seasonal Keys, but none of these crate tiers are intended to be exclusively locked behind real-money purchases.

Players who never purchase a crate key can still access the crate system through gameplay and community rewards.

Vote Keys remain earned through voting, while the other crate tiers have free acquisition methods including Copper Coins, events, giveaways and Keyalls.

### Do Crate Rewards Stay the Same?

No.

Reward pools may change as Coppercore develops.

This means an item appearing inside a crate now does not guarantee that it will remain there permanently.

Likewise, new rewards may be introduced later.

Seasonal Crates are specifically designed to change as different seasonal events arrive.

Always check the crate in-game if you want to see what is currently available before using a key.
