# ✦ ── GriefPrevention

Coppercore uses **GriefPrevention** to let players protect their land, builds, storage, farms, animals, and other belongings.

Claims prevent other players from building, breaking blocks, opening containers, using certain interactable blocks, or interfering with protected property unless the claim owner has trusted them.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:** Claims help prevent damage, but the server rules still protect unclaimed builds. Griefing or stealing is not allowed simply because an area was left unclaimed.
{% endhint %}

### Getting Your Claim Tools

Use:

`/kit claim`

This gives you:

* a **golden shovel** for creating and resizing claims
* a **stick** for inspecting claims and viewing their boundaries

Keep these tools somewhere safe. You can use `/kit claim` again when its cooldown allows.

***

## Creating a Claim

### Step 1: Check the Area

Before building, hold a stick and **right-click the ground**.

This will show whether the block belongs to an existing claim and display that claim’s boundaries.

You can also **sneak and right-click** with the stick to display nearby claims.

Remember that you must not build or claim within **200 blocks** of another player’s claim or established build without their permission.

Use the server map alongside the inspection stick to make sure you have enough space.

### Step 2: Select the First Corner

Hold your golden shovel and **right-click one corner** of the area you want to claim.

### Step 3: Select the Opposite Corner

Walk diagonally to the opposite corner and **right-click again** with the golden shovel.

The land between those two corners will become your claim.

Claims extend vertically, so you do not need to create separate protection for every floor, basement, or underground room.

### Step 4: Check the Boundaries

Right-click inside the claim with a stick to display its border.

Temporary markers will appear around the edges. These are only visual markers and do not permanently place blocks in your build.

***

## Resizing a Claim

To expand or reduce an existing claim:

1. Hold your golden shovel.
2. Right-click one of the claim’s existing corners.
3. Walk to the corner’s new location.
4. Right-click again.

The claim will resize to the new boundary.

Expanding requires enough available claim blocks. Reducing a claim returns the unused blocks to your available total.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Remember:** Expanding your claim does not override the server’s 200-block distance rule.
{% endhint %}

## Claim Blocks

The size of your claims is limited by the number of **claim blocks** available to you.

You may receive claim blocks through:

* time spent playing
* voting
* quests or rewards
* events
* ranks
* store

One claim block generally protects one horizontal block of land.

Use:

`/claimslist`

This shows:

* your total claim blocks
* how many are currently being used
* how many remain available
* your existing claims and their locations

## Trusting Other Players

Trust should only be given to players you genuinely trust.

Different commands provide different levels of access.

### Full Build Trust

`/trust <player>`

Alias:

`/t <player>`

This gives the player permission to build and break blocks inside the claim, along with the lower levels of access.

Example:

`/trust Steve`

Use this for someone who is actively building with you.

### Container Trust

`/containertrust <player>`

Alias:

`/ct <player>`

This allows the player to use containers, animals, crafting equipment, buttons, levers, beds, and other interactable blocks, but does not give them general building permission.

Example:

`/containertrust Steve`

Use this for someone who needs access to storage or farms but should not edit the build itself.

### Access Trust

`/accesstrust <player>`

Alias:

`/at <player>`

This allows the player to use basic access-related blocks such as buttons, levers, and beds. It does not allow them to open containers or alter the build.

Example:

`/accesstrust Steve`

Use this for visitors who need to enter or move through an area.

### Permission Trust

`/permissiontrust <player>`

Alias:

`/pt <player>`

This allows the selected player to manage trust permissions for others up to the level of access they personally hold.

Example:

`/permissiontrust Steve`

Give this permission very carefully. It allows someone else to share claim access with additional players.

### Public Trust

Some trust commands may also accept:

`public`

For example:

`/accesstrust public`

This gives everyone the specified level of access.

Public trust is useful for public shops, paths, warps, farms, or community facilities, but should be used carefully.

***

## Removing Trust

### Remove One Player

`/untrust <player>`

Alias:

`/ut <player>`

This removes the selected player’s permissions from the claim you are standing inside.

Example:

`/untrust Steve`

### Remove Everyone

`/untrust all`

This removes all player permissions from the current claim.

Be careful with this command if several people share the claim.

### Viewing Trusted Players

`/trustlist`

This displays the players trusted in the claim you are currently standing inside and the access level each player has.

***

## Removing Claims

### Abandon One Claim

Stand inside the claim and use:

`/abandonclaim`

or

`/unclaim`

This permanently removes the claim you are standing in and returns its claim blocks to your available total.

The build itself will remain, but it will no longer be protected.

### Abandon Every Claim

`/abandonallclaims`

This permanently removes **all claims belonging to you**.

Use this command with extreme care.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Warning:** Do not use `/abandonallclaims` unless you genuinely intend to remove protection from every claim you own.
{% endhint %}

***

## Subdividing Claims

Subclaims allow you to divide one large claim into smaller areas with separate trust permissions.

This is useful for:

* towns
* shared bases
* rented plots
* market stalls
* individual rooms
* community projects
* giving someone access to only one section of a build

### Enter Subdivision Mode

Stand inside the main claim and use:

`/subdivideclaims`

Alias:

`/sc`

Your golden shovel will switch into subdivision mode.

### Create the Subclaim

1. Hold the golden shovel.
2. Right-click the first corner of the subdivision.
3. Right-click the opposite corner.
4. Use trust commands while standing inside the new subclaim.

Subclaims remain part of the larger parent claim but can have their own permissions.

### Return to Normal Claim Mode

Use:

`/basicclaims`

Alias:

`/bc`

This returns your golden shovel to normal claim creation and resizing mode.

Always switch back before attempting to create a completely new claim elsewhere.

***

## Restricting a Subclaim

By default, a subdivision may inherit permissions from its parent claim.

Use:

`/restrictsubclaim`

Alias:

`/rsc`

This prevents the subclaim from inheriting trust permissions from the larger parent claim.

After restricting it, only players specifically trusted within that subdivision will retain access there.

This is useful when one part of a shared claim needs to remain private.

***

## Explosions Inside Claims

Use:

`/claimexplosions`

This toggles whether explosions are allowed inside the claim you are currently standing in.

Use this carefully. Damage caused after deliberately enabling explosions may not be restored.

Additional explosion and claim behaviour may also be controlled through Coppercore’s **Claim Flags** system.

***

## Escaping a Claim

Use:

`/trapped`

This may teleport you out when you are trapped inside another player’s claim and do not have permission to escape normally.

Only use it when genuinely trapped. It is not intended as a general teleport command.

***

## Transferring a Tamed Animal

Use:

`/givepet <player>`

This transfers ownership of a tamed animal to another player where supported.

Stand near or look at the relevant animal when using the command.

Example:

`/givepet Steve`

Once transferred, the animal belongs to the new owner.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Final reminder:** Claim your land early, inspect nearby areas before settling, and never give someone more trust than they genuinely need.
{% endhint %}
